In an effort to reverse a 5-percent year-over-year increase in motorcycle crash fatalities, the Texas Department of Transportation is launching its month-long “Share the Road: Look Twice for Motorcycles” campaign. Starting May 1, the campaign will coincide with the first day of national Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.

A more than mile-long boardwalk on Lady Bird Lake in Austin will be opening June 7.
Officials with The Trail Foundation on Thursday announced grand opening plans for the boardwalk on the Ann and Roy Butler hike-and-bike trail.
Construction on the more than $28 million project started in October 2012.
Voters in 2010 approved more than $17 million in bonds to support the project. Private contributions also helped pay for the boardwalk on the south shore of Lady Bird Lake.

Registration has begun for the Horizons Camp to be held June 29 – July 3 at the Texas 4-H Conference Center near Brownwood for Texas youth who have completed fourth through eighth grade by the end of May 2014, said the center’s director.
The center is located at 5600 Farm-to-Market 3021, and more information on the center may be found http://texas4hcenter.tamu.edu/.
“The Horizons Camp is more than just camping; it is an opportunity for young people to grow and mature,” said Mark Carroll, 4-H youth development specialist and program director for the center. “It is a summer youth camp featuring six different 4-H project learning programs.”
