Firemen remember Eagle Oil fire of 1994

January 6, 1994, marks 24 years since the massive fire at Eagle Oil in Seco Mines, where 28 active duty firemen, along with nine volunteers, battled one of the most dangerous emergency situations that the community has faced.

Search for missing woman continues

  DPS officials and Maverick County Sheriff’s deputies continue investigations as well as the search for the resident of the home located near the site of the strong explosion that took place early Monday morning. 

  According to KENS 5 San Antonio, the daughter of the missing woman has verified that her mother lived at the home and identified her as Lucilla Robles.

Tractor trailer explodes

  A tractor trailer carrying small containers of gas used to detonate airbags exploded in Quemado early Monday morning. 

 DPS, Maverick County Sheriff’s Department, Eagle Pass Fire Department, Maverick County Road and Bridge Department, and Border Patrol responded to the incident.

  At approximately 2 a.m., the trailer was traveling southbound on US 277 when its contents, which belonged to Takata, a company that produces airbags, exploded, severely injuring both the passenger in the trailer as well as that of another vehicle coming from the opposite direction.
