The United States Border Patrol and Maverick County Sheriff’s Department personnel working Operation Stone Garden rescued eight undocumented immigrants from the Rio Grande River on Thursday,

May 9, 2019, at approximately 2 p.m. near Port of Entry No. 2. The individuals were seen entering the Rio Grande River on the Piedras Negras,

Coahuila side in an attempt to cross illegally into the U.S.

The undocumented migrants were floating down the river on a makeshift raft (Kiddie - Swimming Pool) when they were intercepted by Border Patrol personnel who rescued them from being swept down the river or the raft capsizing on them.

Among the individuals rescued were 3 Cuban, and 5 Honduran Nationals, including a minor child.

Luckily, nobody required medical attention in this incident.

This ongoing issue is believed to continue on a daily basis. United States Border Patrol agents continue seeing an influx of undocumented immigrants attempting to cross into the U.S. Something that has not been seen in years.

The individuals were detained and transported to the Eagle Pass Border Patrol Station for further processing.
