in the theft of three vehicles from a used car dealership located in an area along S. Veterans Blvd. Detective Sargent Rene
Cardona informed that one of the individuals is identified as 17 year-old Juan Carlos Aguilar and a 16 year-old juvenile as well.
All three vehicles were stolen and were later found by law enforcement agents abandoned and vandalized.
One of the vehicles, a black Dodge Avenger, was found submerged in water in a canal in the Chula Vista sector of the community.
Another of the vehicles, a Ford Fusion, was found abandoned on a street near the car lot where it was reported to be taken from.
Cardona reported that another of the vehicles in question was crashed against a tree in the Pueblo Nuevo sector of the community. It’s reported that the vehicle caught or was set on fire.
On Tuesday, March 5th, EPPD Public Information Officer Humberto Garza Jr. reported that Juan Carlos Aguilar was arrested and formally charged for burglary of a building and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle reported to the Police Department on February 1st, 2019.
Garza stated that Aguilar was later presented before a magistrate where he was formally charged with a state jail felony of theft over $2,500 but less than $30,000 on one charge of burglary of a building and unauthorized use of a
motor vehicle and was remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center in lieu of a combined $20,000 bond for the two charges.
The 16-year-old male juvenile directly involved in this incident was also detained in this crime was also charged with one count of burglary of a building and two counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
This incident will be forwarded to the Maverick County District Attorney's Office.
