According to the Texas Department of State Health Services Influenza cases are on the rise.

The TDSHS reports that Influenza activity is increasing across the state of Texas. Compared to the previous week, the percentage of patient visits due to influenza-like illness (ILI) and the percentage of specimens testing positive for influenza reported by hospital laboratories increased.

One influenza-associated pediatric death was reported. Nine ILI/influenza-associated outbreaks were reported. In addition to flu, other respiratory viruses—especially rhinovirus/enterovirus—were detected in Texas during this time period.

Locally, United Medical Center officials have announced that patients with flu symptoms have increased in our community.

UMC El Indio Highway/Eidson Clinics Director Humberto Duran advises the community to be extra careful and if you experience any of the symptoms related to Influenza to consult with your physician.
