DALLAS (AP) —
Texas voters have decided to earmark billions of dollars for various bond issues ranging from updating highways to building new schools.
Harris County voters on Tuesday approved an $850 million bond package to improve roads and other infrastructure upgrades. The package includes $700 million for roads and bridges. Authorities say the bonds for projects in the Houston area will not result in tax hikes.
Dallas voters approved a $1.6 billion school bond package. The deal includes plans for nine new or replacement schools.
Voters in the San Antonio-area North East Independent School District approved a nearly $500 million bond proposal.
Voters approved a more than $430 million bond proposal for the Ysleta (is-LAYT'-uh) Independent School District in El Paso.
