HIDALGO, Texas—

    U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Hidalgo International Bridge arrested a 55-year-old man from San Antonio, Texas after discovering $338,000 worth of alleged methamphetamine within the Ford Explorer he was driving.
     “This was a great interception of hard narcotics that our officers accomplished due to outstanding teamwork, resiliency and dedication towards assisting in keeping dangerous drugs from crossing our border and entering into our communities,” said Acting Port Director Javier Cantu, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.
     The seizure occurred on Oct. 22 at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge after CBP officers encountered a black 2008 Ford Explorer driven by a male U.S. citizen from San Antonio. The man and his vehicle were referred for a secondary examination and with the assistance of a vehicle non-intrusive imaging system and a canine team, officers discovered packages of alleged methamphetamine concealed within the Explorer. CBP OFO removed and seized six packages weighing approximately 16.88 pounds and seized the vehicle as well.
     CBP OFO arrested the man and then released him to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents for further investigation.
