BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) —
Beaumont police are trying to determine how a Southeast Texas woman ended up dead on a road.
Police on Monday identified the victim as 39-year-old Tammy Carraway of Vidor (VY'-duhr).
Officers on Sunday night responded to a 911 call from someone passing who saw the body. Authorities found Carraway dead and located a 41-year-old man at the scene who said she was his girlfriend.
Sgt. Rob Flores Jr. says the boyfriend told police that the couple argued and that Carraway jumped from the moving vehicle. Police interviewed him and other possible witnesses.
An autopsy has been ordered.
