The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, April 2, 2014 after CBP officers encountered a white 2006 Ford F-150 pickup driven by a 28-year-old male Mexican citizen at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge. The driver presented his Mexican border-crossing card and was subsequently referred to secondary for further inspection. Officers performing the secondary examination discovered packages of suspected narcotics concealed within the F-150 pickup and ultimately, 12 packages of alleged cocaine weighing approximately 12.76 kilograms (28.13 lbs.) were removed and seized. CBP-OFO seized the pickup truck as well.
CBP-OFO arrested the male traveler and was then released to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents for further investigation.
