PHARR, TEXAS

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations at the Pharr International Bridge seized approximately $900,000 worth of cocaine which was discovered within Ford pickup truck driven by male Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico resident.

“Our officers discovered these hard narcotics which were allegedly being smuggled into our country and thanks to their exceptional commitment to the CBP mission, these dangerous drugs will not make their final destination in the U.S.,” said Efrain Solis Jr., Port Director, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, April 2, 2014 after CBP officers encountered a white 2006 Ford F-150 pickup driven by a 28-year-old male Mexican citizen at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge. The driver presented his Mexican border-crossing card and was subsequently referred to secondary for further inspection. Officers performing the secondary examination discovered packages of suspected narcotics concealed within the      F-150 pickup and ultimately, 12 packages of alleged cocaine weighing approximately 12.76 kilograms (28.13 lbs.) were removed and seized. CBP-OFO seized the pickup truck as well.

CBP-OFO arrested the male traveler and was then released to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents for further investigation.
