On Friday the 4th & 5th of April the CC Winn Maverick Tennis Team traveled to the Gateway City to participate in the last District 29-AAAAA Tennis Meet.

CC Winn Maverick Track Coach Apolinar Garza informed The News Gram that Maribel Rodriguez placed fifth at the Area Meet with a throw of 103' 6". Rodriguez does not qualify for Regionals unless one of the top four scratches.
Discus thrower Carlos Tijerina threw a 121' 5", however he did not qualify for the Regio IV Meet.
The two athletes are coached by Reynol Jimenez who always does an excellent job of preparing and motivating his student athletes.

Two local fighters will be getting the opportunity of a lifetime as they travel to San Antonio to participate in the Battle of the Alamo Fight Card tonight sponsored by Golden Boy and Leija-Battah Promotions.

Coach Gaby Juarez and Principal Mario Escobar's EPJ 2000 Tennis Team participated in their last tournament for the Spring season on Saturday, April 12th in Del Rio.
The Eaglets competed against Del Rio, Knippa, EP Memorial and Uvalde. Both 7th and 8th grade teams brought back 1st place overall team trophies.

On Tuesday April 15th 2014 the Eagle Pass Lady Eagles and the CC Winn Lady Mavericks met on the softball field in a 3 hour battle that became the most exciting game of the season. It is ironic, yet not a surprise that we may have witnessed both the greatest HS baseball game and the greatest HS softball game in Eagle Pass history in the same year.

The Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagles Softball Team won their 11th consecutive district game against the Del Rio Queens on Friday April 11th, 2014 when they defeated them 12-1. The Lady Eagles were crowned district 29-5A Champions after their last win against the Laredo United Longhorns.

The CC Winn Mavericks hosted the #4 ranked Alexander Bulldogs on Friday at the EPISD Baseball Complex in their second District 29-AAAAA meeting of the season.

CC Winn golfer Gabriela Rangel proudly walked off the 18th green at the Laredo Country Club Golf Course.
"Having only two years of experience, she was phenomenal in learning to play the game," said Coach Beto Hernandez, "Gabriela started playing as a junior and devoted a lot of time to hours of practice and learning the basic fundamentals of golf."
Gabriela will be attending Texas A&M University in Laredo hoping to try out for the golf team.
Coach Hernandez added, "I wish Gaby the best, I know she can make the team wherever she goes."
Los Rangers ganaron su primer compromiso de la temporada con una contundente victoria ante los Red Sox 27-17 en la Liga de Veteranos de Eagle Pass. El receptor de Rangers Adrian Ibarra se fue de 8-7 con dos jonrones, el primero por todo el jardin izquierdo.

Coach Ruben Martinez informed The News Gram of the District 29-AAAAA Tournament held in Laredo on April 10th and 11th.
In varsity mixed doubles, Eagle Pass' Ramon and Rueda defeated Winn's Delgadillo/Villa and Alexander's Ornes/Abboud before falling to United South's Mendoza/Valdez 2-6/2-6.
In varsity girls doubles, Eagle Pass' Cabral/Luna placed third after defeating Mendoza/Peñaloza of United South 6-4/7-6.
In boys doubles EP's Martinez/Gutierrez defeated Winn's Garcia/Martinez.
In varsity boys singles, Winn's Jose Jimenez defeated LBJ's Jose Avila 7-6/6-4.
EP's Kevin Pua waltzed through his first round match vs Jason Mims of United South 6-0/6-3, Then Pua took out Del Rio's Jose Morales 6-4/7-4.
EP's Noemi Tinajero defeated Del Rio's Mirna Hernandez 6-4/6-2, then she eliminated LBJ's Daisy Martinez 7-5/6-4.
EP's Leslie Rojas dispatched Del Rio's Kaya Davis 6-2/6-3 and Winn's Alexia Martinez dumped United South's Jocelyn Serna 6-0/6-1.
