The 10U Eagle Pass Rangers traveled to La Vernia to battle for the rings against teams from San Antonio and the surrounding area this past weekend.
Great pitching by Juan Jesus Garza, Jose Pablo Ramos and Omar Salazar were keys in the Rangers' championship run as well as the great defense overall of Ryan Rodz, Oscar Cavazos and Manuel Melchor who were excellent on the defense attack throughout the tournament.

The 2014 Babe Ruth Southwest Regional Tournament was definitely one for the ages and the Cinderella Eagle Pass 13 Year-old Eagle Pass All Stars came one run short of going to the promised land of the Babe Ruth World Series.
Isaac Gonzalez' charges had been the story of the tournament going 4-0 in their first four games as the host team of the tournament against some perennially stiff competition such as Texas Tri-County, Bryant, Arkansas and a Nederland squad who had lost 9-0 against Bryant, a team Eagle Pass defeated on Sunday.

The 2014 Southwest Regional Babe Ruth Tournament has been one chock full of exciting baseball action and an incredible amount of offense as Scooter Evans and the Texas Tri-County All Stars had all they could handle from Nathan Ruiz, Makayla Parks, Drake Cantú and The Lamesa Tornadoes on Sunday in an 11-8 shootout.
Jerrette Brown was on the hill for Tri County against Ruiz, Lamesa's Ace in the Hole, but the Red & Black struck first with four runs on two hits by Brown and Austin Wick.
Ruiz doubled and scored on an error in the bottom of the first.

The stage was set. Mississippi vs Eagle Pass in Game 1 of the Southwest Regional baseball tournament.
A tournament that had gone on without a hitch for the first three games of the competition where Lamesa, Texas from the Lubbock area went to town on Fort Smith, Arkansas 24-1 scoring nine runs on six hits in the first two innings including doubles by Nathan Ruiz and Eric Garcia along with a 2 RBI single by Lamesa left fielder Draven Vela.

The 14U Eagle Pass All Stars defeated Laredo Gateway 12-3 on Sunday to capture the Texas West State Championship at the McAllister Little League Complex in San Antonio.
The victory qualifies them to represent Texas West at the Little League Southwestern Juniors Softball Championship in Santa Fe, New Mexico in August.
Eagle Pass Little League Juniors Softball Team members include Lynette Gil, Elena De Alba, Lizann “Heather” Ruiz, Daniela Rodriguez, Janessa Garza, Karina Ruiz, Connie Hernandez, Marichelo Flores, Leenette Krezdorn, Isabella Ruiz, Joelyn “JoJo” Gonzalez, Emily Snyder, and Kayla Ochoa.
Team manager is Willie Ruiz and Assistant Coaches are Sonny Snyder and Mac De Alba.

The NBA's best coach is bringing in one of Europe's very best to add to his staff.
The San Antonio Spurs have hired Ettore Messina to be an assistant under Gregg Popovich, the defending champions announced on Tuesday.
Messina comes to San Antonio from Russia, where he coached European power CSKA Moscow. He is a two-time Euroleague coach of the year and has also coached in Italy and Spain. He served as a coaching consultant for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2011-12 and now is making the jump to a full-time NBA coach.

Varios entusiastas del Rey de los Deportes viajaron a Austin el fin de semana pasado para participar en el torneo Copa de Texas en Austin del viernes 4 de julio al domingo 6 de julio ya que la organizacion Broncos de San Antonio los invitaron a vestir la franela del equipo en este certamen.
En el primer juego, los Broncos se enfrentaron a los San Antonio Texans en el campo de bieisból de Westwood High School donde abrieron con broche de oro con una victoria de 5-3 detras del pitcheo de Jorge Morales y el relevo de Luis Sanchez.

The Middle Rio Grande Youth Football and Cheer Conference held its 1st annual 2014 Young Stars Speed and Strength Camp on April 26 and 27.
The camp was instructed by Coach Ray Brown and Coach Dee Bradfield of the Round Rock Outlaw Organization out of the Austin area.
