First up for the Eagles is starting Defensive Lineman Jesus Fernandez.
First of all Jesus, congratulations on your performance against LBJ which led to Coach Gonzalez' nomination as Player of the Week. I've got a battery of questions for you, are you ready?
Yes, Sir.
I'll begin by asking who your influences are?
I would have to say that my role model is my brother Rolando Fernandez because he got me into this sport when I was little and he's taught me everything I know until now. In the pros I look up to DeMarcus Ware. He has a lot of fire and doesn't take any plays off. Sometimes I wish I was him.
What are your goals this season?
My goals are to make playoffs and take my team far as a senior.
Who's your favorite NFL team?
The Dallas Cowboys.
College team?
Alabama.
What's your favorite play?
My favorite play is Even Pinch. My job is to get to the quarterback and lay a hit on him.
Give me your career highlight.
My sophomore year, I had about fourteen tackles against LBJ.
What are your plans after Graduation?
Hopefully to go to the Border Patrol Academy and I hope I can make it.
Major?
Criminal Justice.
Give me some advice to give to a seventh grader starting football.
Don't give up. There's going to be players that are bigger than you, but you can never fear an opponent.
Finally, tell our readers what it feels like to come out of the tunnel.
Being inside the tunnel is the best feeling ever. Being inside that eagle everyone is hyped up and yelling. Once you see those stands, all you can see is orange and the colors of the other team to the opposite side and no empty seats!
Next up is Maverick Linebacker Eduardo Aranda.
Congratulations on a great game against Cigarroa, Eduardo. You all worked as a team to keep our playoff hopes alive. Proud of you. I've got some questions for you are you ready?
Yes, Sir.
Who are your influences?
I consider my brother Christopher Aranda to be my biggest influence because of the way he pushes me to be better than him. I would also include Kawhi Leonard because he is a very humble person who works hard and lets his play do the talking. You just know he works very hard to be as good as he is.
What are your goals this season?
My goal this season is to accomplish something our football program has never done... Make the State Playoffs.
Who's your favorite NFL team?
The Dallas Cowboys.
College?
The Oregon Ducks.
What's your favorite play and why?
My favorite play is Smoke. They send me to go hit the quarterback and getting a sack is one of the best feelings there is in this game.
What is your career highlight?
My career highlight would have to be my freshman year vs Uvalde, I started the game off on my first play with a pick six!
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to go to college and start my career.
Major?
Criminal Justice.
What advice would you give a seventh grader playing football for the first time?
Effort is in you. Treat every play as if it were your last.
Finally, tell our readers what it feels like to come out of the tunnel.
Coming out of the tunnel feels like you're living your dream. It's like no other feeling in the world. Just hearing the crowd yelling and the band playing our Fight Song is a whole different atmosphere!

The CC Winn Mavericks knocked off the Laredo Martin Tigers on Thursday, a Tiger football team coached by former Maverick Head Coach David Charles, and a squad sitting alone in third place of District 29-AAAAA.
Maverick Head Coach Eric Villaseñor informed The News Gram that his defense played well behind the play of Alberto Duran, Ramiro Valdez, Eddie Aranda and Alonso Vallejo who had a touchdown-saving tackle in the 4th quarter.
The offense led by senior quarterback Reyes Lopez answered Martin's two scores with touchdowns by Lalo Martinez on a five yard TD run in the 2nd quarter and Reyes Lopez with a three yard run to win the game after Raudel Gomez' second PAT of the game. Lopez had 103 yards rushing in this game and Martinez broke the 100 yard mark yet once again with 130 yards.
"We're one step closer to the playoffs," said Coach Villaseñor who is looking to get the Mavs over that hump by continuing to play team football behind the mantra 'Trust The Process.'
The Mavericks, 3-2 in district play, take on the Laredo Nixon Mustangs in what they hope to be a repeat performance next week at Shirley Field.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Once Tom Brady stopped getting sacked, he had little trouble putting away the short-handed Cowboys.
As for what Dallas does at quarterback in at least four more games without Tony Romo, that's an open question after a 30-6 loss to Brady and the New England Patriots on Sunday.
MADRID (AP) —
Lionel Messi will stand trial in Spain on three counts of tax fraud and could be sentenced to nearly two years in prison if found guilty.
A Spanish judge on Thursday rejected a request to clear the Barcelona player of wrongdoing and decided to charge him and his father, Jorge Horacio Messi, with tax fraud.
Prosecutors had said Messi — a four-time world player of the year — was not fully aware of his father's unlawful activities and should not have been charged, but the state attorney's office contended that the Argentina forward knew enough to also be named in the case.
The attorney's office called for a prison sentence of 22 months and 15 days for Messi and his father, along with a fine in the amount defrauded, payment of all legal proceedings and the loss of any possible tax benefits for a year and a half. Prosecutors had called for an 18-month prison sentence for Messi's father only, along with a fine of 2 million euros ($2.2 million).
The company managing Messi's image rights, Leo Messi Management, defended the player, saying he had already been cleared by prosecutors.
A court had recently rejected an appeal filed by Messi's lawyers to drop the Barcelona player from the case. Things seemed to be going Messi's way after prosecutors this week announced their request to clear him of any irregularities, but the judge ruled Thursday there was enough evidence of crimes committed by both Messi and his father.
They are being accused of defrauding Spain's tax office of 4.1 million euros ($4.6 million) in unpaid taxes from 2007-09.
Messi's father made a payment of more than 5 million euros ($5.6 million) in August 2013 to cover unpaid taxes, plus interest.
A date for the trial has not yet been set.
The El Pais newspaper reported recently that Messi told authorities he would "sign anything with his eyes closed" if his father told him to do it.
The court in Gava, Barcelona, had said that although Messi was unfamiliar with tax issues, there was sufficient evidence to believe the Barcelona playmaker could have known and consented to the creation of a fictitious corporate structure to avoid paying taxes on income from his image rights. Authorities said some of the income came through companies located in tax havens.
The court had said it was not necessary for Messi "to have full knowledge of all accounting or corporate transactions or the exact amount of the fraud" for him to have had a clear idea of an intention to defraud.
Spain has recently been cracking down on tax evasion as part of its fight to repair the country's public finances after a prolonged recession triggered by the collapse of its once-booming real estate sector.
Messi's legal case is not the only one affecting Barcelona.
Spain's tax office is also investigating midfielder Javier Mascherano for taxes paid in 2011 and 2012, and a separate court in Madrid is hearing a lawsuit that accuses former Barcelona president Sandro Rosell of misappropriated funds to hide the cost of the transfer fee paid to acquire Brazil striker Neymar from Santos in 2013.
Barcelona also remains in trouble with FIFA, which handed the club a one-year ban on signing new players, through 2015, after concluding it violated rules regulating the transfer of underage players at its lauded soccer academy.
