Former Lady Eagle standouts Sandra and Melanie Mendoza have just been named National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar Athletes.

   C. C. Winn High School Maverick standout student athletes, Mary Chelo Flores and Erick Lopez were chosen by the Major League Baseball Houston Astros Foundation and Minute Maid to receive the 2017 Minute Maid Grand Slam for Youth Scholarship in the amount of $5,000.

   On Friday, May 26,  Alex Alvarez Softball Field was officially named exactly five years after a tragic car accident, in which another driver was texting, that took the lives of Alex Alvarez, his wife Liliana Valdez de Alvarez, and his mother-in-law Olga Valdez.

   With the help of Maverick County Parks and Recreation Director Jose Ramos, Superintendent of Road and Bridge Department Ernesto Guevara, and Commissioner Roberto Ruiz, the Alvarez and Valdez families were able to remember their loved ones with a tribute from the community.

Cassandra Flores of C.C. Winn High School signed her letter of intent with  Trinity Valley University on Friday, May 12. 

 

Flores, who will play softball with the school, has dedicated much of her life to the sport, and was surrounded by the friends, family, coaches, and school administration who supported her throughout her athletic career.

The Texas University Interscholastic League (UIL) has announced its 2017 softball season standouts including 11  C. C. Winn High School Lady Mavericks who have been awarded with district honors.

The Eagle Pass High School Lady Eagles Softball Team traveled to Laredo, Texas this weekend in pursuit of the 2017 Texas U.I.L. Region IV, Class 6A Bi-District Championship.  The Lady Eagles played their hearts out, but came up short, as they lost in two consecutive games by only one run against the McAllen High School Lady Bulldogs.
