The City of Eagle Pass is announcing that this Friday, March 16, the International Bridge One will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at 3 o'clock in the afternoon due to the traditional International Friendship festival embrace event between dignitaries of both countries.

  The Eagle Pass Police Department and City of Eagle Pass held a Promotion of Rank ceremony for various officers on Thursday, August 31.

   On Friday, May 26,  Alex Alvarez Softball Field was officially named exactly five years after a tragic car accident, in which another driver was texting, that took the lives of Alex Alvarez, his wife Liliana Valdez de Alvarez, and his mother-in-law Olga Valdez.

   With the help of Maverick County Parks and Recreation Director Jose Ramos, Superintendent of Road and Bridge Department Ernesto Guevara, and Commissioner Roberto Ruiz, the Alvarez and Valdez families were able to remember their loved ones with a tribute from the community.

   After almost 22 years serving the community as part of the Eagle Pass Fire Department, Assistant Fire Chief Felix Carrazco is retiring.

   Carrazco was honored at a ceremony held by the Fire Department on Thursday, April 27, where new firefighters, lieutenants, and the new assistant fire chief were presented.

A ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony will be held Friday, March 24 at 3:00 p.m. to officially dedicate the new library building at the Southwest Texas Junior College campus in Crystal City.
