     In an attempt to increase distribution rates by American Electric Power (AEP), Eagle Pass City Council voted against a resolution to amend cost recovery factors to increase said rates.

The early voting period for the City of Eagle Pass amendments election began on Monday April, 23, 2018 with minimal interest from the city voter to come out during this time period and cast their vote.

During the first day there were only 104 votes cast all day and election enthusiasts believe that a low voter turnout will continue through the rest of the election.

Maverick County Commissioners Court approved an interlocal government agreement with the City of Eagle Pass regarding solid waste collecting.
During their meeting held on Thursday March 29 the court discussed the issue accepting to proceed with the agreement.
County Attorney Robert Wilson advised the court that an agreement was to be worked out with the city. “I recommend that it’s approved subject to negotiations with the city attorney,” said Wilson.
In 2017 the City began the application process with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to shut down the Municipal Landfill.
According to City Finance and Business Director Jesus Rodriguez, Jr., the application and closure process to shut down the City of Eagle Pass Municipal Landfill Type IV Permit will take approximately a year to complete with TCEQ.
The City of Eagle Pass is expected to save $273,000 annually by closing the landfill rather than maintaining it open.
The City of Eagle Pass will install and operate a Citizens Collection Station at the City’s Public Works Yard on Eidson Road to dispose of their Type
IV landfill waste such as construction debris, trees and shrubs once the City’s Radar Base Landfill is closed down.

 

 

Condado aprobó acuerdo con Ciudad para la recolección de desechos sólidos

 

La Corte de Comisionados del Condado de Maverick aprobó un acuerdo interlocal del Gobierno con la Ciudad de Eagle Pass con respecto a la recolección de desechos sólidos.
Durante la reunión celebrada el jueves 29 de marzo, se discutió el tema aceptando continuar con el acuerdo.
El Abogado del Condado Robert Wilson informó a la corte  que se había llegado a un acuerdo con la ciudad. "Recomiendo que se aprueben negociaciones con el abogado de la ciudad", dijo Wilson.
  En noviembre de 2017, la ciudad de Eagle Pass comenzó el proceso para cerrar su vertedero de desechos sólidos en el condado.
En 2017, la ciudad comenzó el proceso de solicitud con la Comisión de Calidad Ambiental de Texas (TCEQ) para cerrar o cerrar el Permiso Municipal de Tipo IV.
Un vertedero municipal Tipo IV acepta escombros de construcción y árboles y tipos de desechos sólidos.
De acuerdo con el Director de Finanzas y Negocios de la Ciudad, Jesús Rodríguez, Jr., el proceso de solicitud y cierre para cerrar el Permiso Municipal Tipo IV de Sanidad Municipal de Eagle Pass tardará aproximadamente un año en completarse con TCEQ.
Se espera que la Ciudad de Eagle Pass ahorre $273,000 anualmente al cerrar el vertedero en lugar de mantenerlo abierto.
La Ciudad de Eagle Pass instalará y operará una Estación de Recolección Ciudadana en el Patio de Obras Públicas de la Ciudad en Eidson Road; para deshacerse de sus residuos de Vertederos Tipo IV como escombros de construcción , árboles y arbustos. Todo esto una vez que se cierre el Relleno Base Radar de la Ciudad.

City approves EPPD body cameras

Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey E. Cantu and members of the Economic Business Development Committee had a meeting with Paul Del Rincon, Director of International Port of Entries in Eagle Pass, Texas. 
The recent meeting is part of a continued dialogue to seek solutions to the long wait times at both ports and other issues that both agencies can work together in improving.

The Eagle Pass City Council approved the demolition of the Moncada Baseball Stadium stands and bleachers at their recent meeting. The City will begin to install the new seating and begin a remodeling of the area. The effort is in coordination with the City's Parks Master Plan and the up-coming Babe Ruth 14 U World Series which is scheduled for next August.

City approves annexation of land

The Eagle Pass City Council held a meeting on Tuesday March 6 in which they approved the third and final reading of an ordinance extending the corporate limits of the City through annexation of five tracts of land being approximately 1,804.15 acres.

The City of Eagle Pass once again discussed the acquisition and/or relocation of family(s) due to existing safety concerns as well as hazardous sanitary conditions of three properties located on Garrison Street and Monroe St. during a meeting held on Tuesday February, 6. 
 The City had approved the acquisition of these properties back in January 22, 2017.
 Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey E. Cantu and the city council went into executive session to discuss the issue further.   
Back in open session,  Attorney Heriberto Morales addressed the issue. “You’re authorizing us to look into the cost associated with moving forward on this condemnations from public use,” clarified Morales.
The Eagle Pass City Council voted in favor in pursuing the possibility of the condemnation of these properties.
 The properties in question are in close proximity to the Eagle Pass City Hall , adjacent to the building on the Garrison St. side and next to the One Stop Convenience Store.

 

Ciudad discute tema rehubicación casas en Garrison y Monroe

 

La Ciudad de Eagle Pass una vez más discutió sobre la adquisición y / o reubicación de las familias debido a preocupaciones de seguridad existentes, así como las condiciones sanitarias peligrosas de tres propiedades ubicadas en Garrison Street y Monroe St. durante una reunión celebrada el martes 6 de febrero .
La Ciudad había aprobado la adquisición de estas propiedades el 22 de enero de 2017.
El alcalde de Eagle Pass, Ramsey E. Cantu, y el concejo municipal asistieron a una sesión ejecutiva para analizar el tema más a fondo.
De vuelta en sesión abierta, el abogado Heriberto Morales abordó el tema. "Nos autoriza a analizar el costo asociado con avanzar en esta condena del uso público", aclaró Morales.
El Concilio Municipal de Eagle Pass votó a favor al buscar la posibilidad de condenar las estas propiedades.
Las propiedades en cuestión se encuentran muy cerca del Eagle Pass City Hall, junto al edificio en el lado de Garrison St. y al lado de One Stop Convenience Store.
