The CC Winn Mavericks were awarded several All-District selections including some unanimous choices such as Maverick Tight End Isaac Villarreal, who was given the highest honor for his continuous effort and seemingly limitless talent as a receiver who would score practically every time he touched the football.

Mavericks Outlast Carrizo 69-44

  The CC Winn Mavericks defeated the Carrizo Springs Wildcats 69-44 on Saturday. Coach JT Sanchez informed The News Gram that the effort was there for his team.

   "It was a very good start for Maverick Boys Basketball. We had seen Carrizo Springs the last two Saturday’s in scrimmage play at Carrizo Springs and San Antonio Fox Tech respectively.  Those scrimmages were closer than last night."

The football coach for the CC Winn Mavericks says his charges are primed and ready for their Bi-District tilt against the Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial Eagles, an upstart program in only their second season of varsity football.

Mavericks Come Up Short 30-28 vs Southside

     It was a cool and calm Friday Night at Foster Veterans Memorial Stadium for this year's Homecoming Game for CC Winn High School against the visiting and always dangerous Southside Cardinals, a Cardinals team that was coming off of scoring 60 points on Uvalde last week. The Mav 'D' definitely did a number on this offensive squad, but a couple of turnovers and a last second field goal gave the Cardinals their second victory of the short season 30-28.

   C. C. Winn High School Maverick standout student athletes, Mary Chelo Flores and Erick Lopez were chosen by the Major League Baseball Houston Astros Foundation and Minute Maid to receive the 2017 Minute Maid Grand Slam for Youth Scholarship in the amount of $5,000.
