The Memorial Mavericks and the EPJ Eagle renewed their rivalry at the EPISD Sports Complex Gymnasium on Tuesday and the Mavs came away with a close 31-29 victory over the Eagles in a game that EPJ led comfortably early. EPJ, behind the ex Mustang Ricky Flores, had a 13-9 lead in the first half, then Tony Flores, his teammate on the Twin Towers Championship from last year came in and came through big time for the Silver & Black Attack along with Big Joe Esqueda who also dropped in six big points late and kept them in the game. Ricky Flores put the Eagles ahead with a big three pointer late and big Cal Roman put in all of his six points in the second half to keep the Eagles ahead, but a big play by Tony Flores on a set play from under the basket put the game away for the Mavericks who came away with a 31-29 victory.

The Eagle Pass Eagle Cross Country Team traveled to Old Settler's PArk in Round Rock to participate in the 2012 Texas State Cross Country Meet. The three-time Region IV Champs placed 10th place amongst the elite CX teams in the State of Texas as Saul Vasquez led the way with an incredible time of 16:34 amidst an array of extremely talented runners from such vaunted programs as The Woodlands and Southlake Carroll. Hector Alvarez and Jorge Ortiz came across not even a minute behind Alvarez yet, this time they came in sparingly behind a slew of runners from other schools such as College Park, El Paso Eastwood, Lewisville Marcus, Plano West, Weslaco East and even Del Rio. Michael Espinoza, Martin Lopez and Carlos Elizondo also contributed to the big tenth place finish as the Eagles came out on top of such established programs as Houston Stark Jesuit and Houston Cypress Woods. Congratulations are in order for the entire EPHS CX Team Juan Gonzalez and his entire coaching staff on a job well done.
