The elite 12-U division had the game of the week when the Eagle Pass Cowboys squared off against The Eagle Pass Panthers on Saturday and the result was not for the faint of heart.

The Man with The Plan Ricardo Garcia, one of the best players in this league, struck first with 8:35 remaining in the first quarter with an incredible 45 yard touchdown run, but then another of the best of the best, Nathan Molina did what he does a mere twenty seconds later with a 52 yard touchdown and the extra point failed to make the score 7-6.

Then Easton Garcia, the Queensryche QB, scored on a six yard touchdown and the Giovanni Gutierrez extra point was good to make it 14-6.

Juan Peralez connected with Jesus Medina on a 35 yard touchdown pass and Dante Huerta’s point after made it 14-13.

An interception by Eli Rodriguez with ten seconds left in the first half ended a potential scoring drive for the Cowboys.

It wasn’t until the fourth quarter that the Panthers hit with a nine yard touchdown blast by Dante Huerta with 9:00 left in the fourth to extend the lead to 19-14.

But a short punt and a horse collar tackle gave the Cowboys new life and Easton Garcia punched it in with :17 left in the game to give them the lead 20-19. The extra point was no good and the Panthers had :17 of life.

Well, after three kickoffs, a 30 yard pass from Peralez to Dueñez sealed the proverbial deal for the Panthers and they were off to the Championship. What a game!
