The Eagle Pass Eagles established themselves as a force to be reckoned with once again come playoff time with a hard-fought 3-2 victory taken from Harlingen South on Saturday at Tejada Park in San Antonio. Tony Galvan was on the hill for the Eagles against the Hurricanes and he took the ball and ran behind some excellent defense and equally clutch offensive production. The Eagles got on the board in the first frame when 1-9 Eric Gonzalez led off the game with a base hit and stole second was driven in by a double off the bat of Diego Gaona to put them up 1-0.

Eagle track standout Ty Chisum placed sixth at the 2014 State Track and Field Meet held at the Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin. Chisum turned in a personal best and school record 47' 7 1/2" in the triple jump on Saturday and according to Head Coach Roger Olivas, he turned a lot of heads and opened some very important eyes.

The Eagle Pass Eagles took care of business on Saturday by knocking off the Harlingen South Hurricanes by a score of 3-2 to advance to the Regional Quarter Finals to face Edinburgh North this weekend at Veteran's Field.
Tony Galvan went the distance for the Burnt Orange and White and the Eagle 'O' gave him the run support he needed to get the job done.
Head Coach Reynol Mendoza was in Laredo on Monday as five of his finest were signing national letters of intent with the Laredo Community College Palominos, however he informed The News Gram that they would be squaring off with the Cougars on Friday at 7:30 at Veteran's. Games 2 and 3 will be on Saturday at 10:30 AM and at 1:30 PM if necessary.
Once this game was in the books, it was the boys' turn to come out and support the girls at the Spring Sports Complex as they too showed the determination and the will to win that they have shown time and time again when their backs are against the wall to come back in their 2 out of 3 game series against the #8 ranked Edinburgh North Lady Bobcats on Saturday.
Coach Coca Ruiz' Lady Eagles laced up their spikes on Saturday morning and had no mercy in coming back in Game 2 to paste a 15-0 shellacking of the Valley Cats with the bottom of the EP lineup coming through as Sammy Fuentes, Nina Flores and Claudia Cruz came through with big time hits to produce runs and Vivian Ramirez plated three with a home run in the second inning according to Coach Ricky Ruiz. Melanie Mendoza was four for four in this game as well. Krystal De La Cruz wove her magic and saw limited action in this shortened game that ended by the ten-run-rule.
In Game 3 De La Cruz aided her own cause with a couple of hits, Nina Flores hit well and Mel Mendoza went 3 for 4 in their 9-1 victory that sends them into their fourth round Region IV Semi-Fonal against the San Marcos Rattlers this weekend.
