The 2014 Babe Ruth Southwest Regional Tournament was definitely one for the ages and the Cinderella Eagle Pass 13 Year-old Eagle Pass All Stars came one run short of going to the promised land of the Babe Ruth World Series.
Isaac Gonzalez' charges had been the story of the tournament going 4-0 in their first four games as the host team of the tournament against some perennially stiff competition such as Texas Tri-County, Bryant, Arkansas and a Nederland squad who had lost 9-0 against Bryant, a team Eagle Pass defeated on Sunday.

The 2014 Southwest Regional Babe Ruth Tournament has been one chock full of exciting baseball action and an incredible amount of offense as Scooter Evans and the Texas Tri-County All Stars had all they could handle from Nathan Ruiz, Makayla Parks, Drake Cantú and The Lamesa Tornadoes on Sunday in an 11-8 shootout.
Jerrette Brown was on the hill for Tri County against Ruiz, Lamesa's Ace in the Hole, but the Red & Black struck first with four runs on two hits by Brown and Austin Wick.
Ruiz doubled and scored on an error in the bottom of the first.

The stage was set. Mississippi vs Eagle Pass in Game 1 of the Southwest Regional baseball tournament.
A tournament that had gone on without a hitch for the first three games of the competition where Lamesa, Texas from the Lubbock area went to town on Fort Smith, Arkansas 24-1 scoring nine runs on six hits in the first two innings including doubles by Nathan Ruiz and Eric Garcia along with a 2 RBI single by Lamesa left fielder Draven Vela.
