Former Eagle Pass Eagle Christian Garcia continues to make a name for himself as a starting offensive lineman at Texas A&M Kingsville. The javelinas are busy at work preparing for the 2014 campaign and Garcia has been honored as one of the top players at his position in a recent pre-season poll that ranks all the players in the Lone Star Conference.
"Texas A&M University-Kingsville offensive lineman, Christian Garcia, was named to the pre-season All-Lone Star Conference team selected by Beyond Sports Network on Wednesday."
"Garcia is a 6-5, 320 pound two-year letterman from Eagle Pass, Texas. He earned an honorable mention nod for the All-Lone Star Conference team as a guard and tackle for the 2013 season."
The Javelinas take on Humbolt State on September 6th in their season opener in Kingsville.

There's a new youth basketball team in town and they're starting off on the right foot as Rick Rodriguez and his boys are in BEAST mode.
On June 29, 2014, Eagle Pass Beast Mode Basketball Team (13U) traveled to Laredo and captured The Div. A 1st Place Championship in the National's Warm Up Basketball Tournament by winning all of their games against some top level competition.

The 10U Eagle Pass Rangers traveled to La Vernia to battle for the rings against teams from San Antonio and the surrounding area this past weekend.
Great pitching by Juan Jesus Garza, Jose Pablo Ramos and Omar Salazar were keys in the Rangers' championship run as well as the great defense overall of Ryan Rodz, Oscar Cavazos and Manuel Melchor who were excellent on the defense attack throughout the tournament.
