Eagle Pass High School junior Jezabelle Rodriguez who has competed at every level of competition and scored high for Juan Gonzalez' Lady Eagle XC Program experienced another level of competition, some of which are freshmen and sophomores, at the 2014 UIL State 6A Cross Country Championships held Saturday, November 8th at Settler's Park in Round Rock.

Rodriguez came in 75th out of 150 of the state's best runners with an uncharacteristic 19:53.26, as the course itself may have contributed by the challenging times, yet "Belle" as she is known to her coaches and friends kept battling, defeating racers from state champion Lewisville Hebron, Southlake Carroll, Katy Seven Lakes, Katy Cinco Ranch, Comal Canyon, The Woodlands and even Comal Smithson Valley where the top girl's runner in the state Devin Clark is from en route to her first state performance.

The impending opening of the 2014-2015 ABA Basketball season will be tomorrow as your Centex Swarm take on Austin in Austin at 7:30 PM.  The Swarm will be coached by none other than Johnny Moore, whose famous number 00 is retired and sits in the rafters of the AT&T Center in San Antonio.

Moore played alongside Spurs greats such as George Gervin and David Robinson in the Silver & Black and is bringing with him a load of collegiate talent who have joined the team in hopes of one day donning an NBA uniform such as three University of Arkansas players including Mardracus Wade (6' 3" guard who shoots lights out and can dribble with the best of them) and Rickey Scott (6' 5" Power Forward who has all the tools is big and strong like an Andre Iguadala who can shoot the rock and dunk it on an opponent).

The scene was set.  it was do or die for your Eagle Pass Lady Eagles in a big time match against the McAllen High School Lady Bulldogs at Laredo Martin High School in the 2014 Bi-District Playoffs.  

The Bulldogs were coming in with an impressive pedigree of height, teamwork and aggressiveness which according to Lady Eagle guru Lucinda Hooper-Gloria is the key to their success.
