The Eagle Pass Eagles were a stop away from moving on to the Texas State High School Playoffs on Friday against the Del Rio Rams. The amazing thing about the situation was the fact that the Eagle defense got that stop at a most opportune time I might add, with less than three minutes remaining on the clock, but a holding call gave the Del Rio Rams, who trailed the Eagles at the time 14-7 new life. The Eagles held the Rams to no yards on four incomplete passes from the ten yard line and quarterback Will Ashley basically was throwing the ball away as all his receivers were covered by the Eagle D.

Under center for the 'Dogs was none other than Koy Detmer, Jr., a Division I prospect and nephew of former Philadelphia Eagle and Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer who many in attendance said was as accurate a passer as they had ever seen throwing pinpoint dimes to his backs and wideouts.
