A total of four game wardens are preparing to welcome the 2015-2016 Hunting Season in South Texas including Jake Noxon and two new game wardens in James Adcock and Joseph Quintero and they already have begun monitoring the migratory bird season or in these parts, dove season, a very popular endeavor here in Maverick County.

Maverick WR Julio Ruiz puts a move on a Wildcat defender en route to the second of three TD's in CC Winn's 48-12 victory over Carrizo Springs on Parent's Night Friday.  Ruiz, who also handles punting chores for the Mav's, was selected Player of the Week  by Head Coach Eric Villaseñor, "We took another positive step for our program last week and we're looking forward to the challenge against Eagle Pass this Friday."

Two John Jay High School football players who appear to have deliberately tackled a referee during a game Friday night, have been suspended from school as well as the team, officials said Sunday. The district released a statement Sunday morning about the event.
