In the 9-U Division of the Triple Play Fall League, Skipper Leo Rodriguez came out of retirement to lead the Eagle Pass Astros to the championship in a game fitting of title implications in a showdown against Jaime Martinez and the pesky Red Sox who gave the 12-0 'Stros all they could handle.
The boys Eagle Pass High School Golf team finished 11th out of 17 teams that participated in the Edcouch-Elsa golf tournament with Diego Carrillo finishing 22 overall out of 86 participants.
The Eagle Pass Angels Traveling Softball Team went to Del Rio and came back with a championship. Leo Flores coached the team and according to sources, several players contributed in key ways such as Katie Galvan who hit .333 and pitched the entire tournament save one inning. Abby Flores hit .666 at shortstop with one stolen base. Kaitlyn Ruiz played a solid first base and hit .400 with 3 RBI's.
Alex "The Wall" Martinez played catcher, hit .333 and no one stole a base on her all tournament. Ailyn Chong hit for .666 and 2 RBI's. Kayla Sifuentes had an .800 OBP and stole two bases. Romy Flores hit .250 a walk off double to bring in 2 RBI's to win a game. Llana Luna and Amy Flores both stepped up and Amy threw one inning and hit .333.
