The Eagle Pass City Council approved to award the multi-million dollar contract to the Austin, Txbased construction firm after going through the criteria process.

City Finance Director Jesse Rodriguez presented the Council with information regarding three proposals which were considered.

The bids were reviewed and scored by a selection panel appointed by the City Manager.

“Hellas Construction received the highest score from the committee with a score of 595 (Maximum score- 600). The next highest score was 475,” stated Rodriguez. 

Rodriguez informed the City Council that the recommendation from the committee was to approve awarding Hellas Construction the Sports Complex Design and Build project.

The Eagle Pass City Council further discussed the project and voted to award Hellas Construction the Sports Complex contract, which is estimated to cost approximately $12,000,000.

The City has been looking at different options for the location of the proposed Sports Complex to be constructed using funding made available from the issuance of Certificates Of Obligation (COB’s) in the amount of approximately $32,000,000 at a fixed interest rate of 3.6% for 20 years.
