Unvalued got on the board first when Marcus De La Cruz singled and Matthew Sandival walked. Maverick starter Jacob Salinas struggled throwing strikes and walked them both in to put the Maroon and White up 2-0.
Then Jorge Romero would walk, followed by an error putting Jared Roiz on. Miguel Solis would walk. Romero would steal second and come in to score on a fielder’s choice.
Salinas would get out of the second and third unscathed, then in the bottom of the third, Winn would tie the game when Frankie Ballones reached. Then Salvador Lara would single, Juan Pablo Ramos doubled in a run, followed by a run-producing single by Brandon VillaseЦor; who would eventually come in to score the game-winning run to catapult Mavericks into the Bi-District run against the Brackenridge Eagles here tonight at 7:00 PM at the SAC. The second game is slated for 5:00 PM at the SAISD Sports Complex on Friday with a third game - if necessary - in Jourdanton at 1:00 PM on Saturday. (Photo unavailable).
