Diego Saldivar won his second consecutive Junior Olympics Boxing Title in the 11-12 year-old Division on Saturday after defeating Liam Smithwick

from Hinojosa Boxing in San Antonio after a toughly contested battle in the final. What this reporter was able to see, as did the judges, Saldivar landed the cleaner, most solid shots throughout the fight, starting with a stiff jab that kept opponent at bay the

entire fight. According to Alfonso Mallen, Saldivar’s trainer, he did not advance due to the fact that he is only ten years old and won a division higher than his own, therefore he will watch from afar as Smithwick advances in this division.
