Left fielder Alan Ferreyro jumped on Lopez first on an 0-1 count for a single, followed by a walk to third baseman Sergio Galvan, then shortstop Joel Hinojosa singled in a run and the Bulldogs were in business 1-0 after one.
Villarreal would get the Eagle pretty much in order through four, notching two strikeouts in the process until Edward Mendoza singled and scored on a hit by Jacob Ruiz in the fifth inning.
The Bulldogs scored another run on the spikes of Ferreyro in the fifth and two more in the sixth to take the game and the tiebreaker 4-1.
The Eagles now travel to The Gateway City to take on the McAllen High School Bulldogs on Friday at 7:00 PM at the SAC, followed by Game 2 at Krueger Field at United High School on Saturday at 1:00 PM, followed by Game 3 thirty minutes later.
