The Eagle Pass Eagles got one step closer to a possible District29- AAAAAA Championship with a 10-0 knockout

of the Nixon Mustangs. Retry Mendoza started things off with yet another rocket shot out of the park on the first pitch of the ball game off of starting pitcher Billy Winnans. Then Braulio Rodriguez reached on a base hit and advanced on an error by the second baseman putting Hector Montoya on.

Both Rodriguez and Montoya would come in to score putting the Eagles ahead 3-0 after one. Check Lopez would do the rest, striking out nine en route to a two-hit complete game shutout.

Isaac Gonzalez singled and scored in the third, Mendoza, brother Edward, David Lopez and Jacob Ruiz scored in the fourth and Montoya and CJ Jimenez scored in the fifth. Rodriguez led all hitters by going 2 for 3 with two runs batted in, Jimenez was 1 for 1, Montoya 1 for 2 as was Gonzalez and Mendoza and Ruiz were 1 for 3.

The Eagles knocked off the United South Panthers in a close one 4-3 in The Gateway City and took care of the Alexander Bulldogs 6-2 on Tuesday, but results were not available at press time.

With these three consecutive victories, the Eagles keep themselves mathematically alive for the District Championship with the final game of the season, a showdown with arch rival Del Rio looming on the horizon next Tuesday in the Queen City.
