Eagle Head Coach Reynol Mendoza notched his 300th victory

on Friday as he and his team waxed the LBJ Wolves at Polo Moncada Field and did so in spectacular fashion as his son Rey Rey went yard with one on in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Orly Riza was on the hump for the Eagles against Jose Mares. Riza allowed a lone run on one hit and the Wolves stole two bases and a passed ball allowed Fernando Garza to score and left right fielder Angel Apac to remain at third as Riza struck out DH Ramon Lopez and got help from his defense to get out of the inning.

Isaac Gonzalez reached on an error and came in to score in the bottom of the first to tie the game on what looks to be a squeeze play by Braulio Rodriguez.

Ria held the Wolves at bay in the second as did Mares, then in the third, Apac reaches on a hit and steals second and comes in on a hit by Mares to put the Wolves up 2-1.

Mendoza, Rodriguez and Jacob Ruiz would score in the bottom of the third and the Burnt Orange and White would not look back as Edward Mendoza and Ruiz would score in the fourth followed by the homer by

Rey Rey and hits by CJ Jimenez, Edward Mendoza and David Lopez who also came in to score.

Jimenez, Orly Garza and Edward would score the final runs for the Eagles in that marathon inning to give the Eagles a 14-2 victory. “First of all, I’ve had a lot of great players and I love each and every one of them, without them, this wouldn’t have been possible,” said the ball coach, “I also have to give credit to my coaching staffs. You do things the right way and stick around long enough, you’ll accumulate wins.”

“I owe all of these wins to all the players and coaches I’ve had through the years.” In reference to this season and what lies ahead, Mendoza had the following to conclude, “We have four games left against Nixon, United South, Alexander and Del Rio. For us to have a mathematical chance to repeat as district champs we have to win all four. That’s the way we’re looking at it. We can’t take any teams lightly and have to play for the day.”
