CC Winn senior Diego Ibarra had a Day 1 lead on Friday at the United ISD Invitational

in his last warm-up prior to the 2019 District 28-AAAAA Tournament - to be held in Pleasanton on April 5th and 6th. The State Qualifier said he felt good about his chances to win this invitational and that his game is peaking at the right time after shooting an opening round of 72.

“I played well on the first day. We played the Front 9 twice because the girls were playing the Back 9 all day,” he said, “I felt really good and my irons were spot on.”

On Day 2, Ibarra birdied the Par 4 11th and the Par 4 13th. He ran into some trouble on the Par 4 14th, but came back on 16 with another birdie on that Par 4 hole. He parred out 17 and 18 and then it was back to replay the Back 9 in the afternoon.

For some reason he had trouble with Hole #10 threeputting in the morning and two-putting the hole on the second go around on this Par 5.

“The greens were really fast on the second day and the pin placements were a little different than in The Border Olympics.”

He did manage to birdie the 17th on the way in for a Day 2 75 and a second place finish.
