The Mendoza Brothers were given the responsibility of pitching to these two foes. Rey Rey got the ball against Alexander on Friday and Edward was on the mound to face the San Antonio squad.
On Friday, Nomar Garcia got on on a hit and stole second, followed by a fielder’s choice by Sergio Galvan which scored the run putting the Bulldogs up 1-0. Ernesto Meza walked in the second and two passed balls later came in to score the second run for Alexander.
Jacob Ruiz walked in the third inning, followed by a base hit by Rey Rey Mendoza and then Ruiz came in to score on a fielder’s choice and a subsequent bad throw by Joel Hinojosa, the Bulldog shortstop, plated the Eagles’ first and only run of the game; 2-1 Alexander.
On Tuesday, the Eagles squared off against the San Antonio Cornerstone Warriors and Edward Mendoza was on the hump for the Burnt Orange and White.
Mendoza proceeded to mow down the Warriors one by one, notching 10 K’s in this ballgame (one in the first, three in the second, two in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth) before Checo Lopez came in relief in the sixth inning and Lopez struck out another two before Erick Heredia came in in the seventh to strikeout another two hitters.
The Eagles scored three in the fourth on a walk to Rey Rey Mendoza followed by back-to-back doubles by Edward Mendoza and Braulio Rodriguez.
Rodriguez came in to score on a hit by Orly Garza to put the Eagles up 3-0. The fourth run came on the spikes of role Riza on an RBI hit by Rey Rey Mendoza. The Eagles take on United on Tuesday.
