"Coach Villaseñor does a tremendous job,” said Coach Rohrs. “His kids are very well coached."
The Tigers are coming off a 35-21 victory over the Uvalde Coyotes in Floresville last week.
Their Quarterback Darien Mayberry, a sophomore, ran for one touchdown while Wide Receiver Colton Payne caught a touchdown on a 30-40 yard fade. Junior Running Back Salih Williams scored two on long runs.
"Our offensive line played well in the second half and we were able to run the ball," added Coach Rohrs.
The line he's talking about is made up of Center Nathan Trevino (5' 11", 190 Lbs.), a sophomore, junior Guard Erik Rodriguez (6' 0", 260 Lbs.), junior Guard Dylan Pennell (6' 1", 230 Lbs.), 6' 4" 280 Lb. junior Tackle Antonio Gonzalez, and 6' 0" 235 Lb. junior Tackle Pasqual Ortiz.
"Our defense played really well," said the Tiger coach. "Uvalde had a good game plan and their quarterback is really good. Our linebackers and defensive line played very well and senior WR/DB Colton Payne had two interceptions, one for a touchdown."
When asked what they should expect from the C.C. Winn Mavericks this Friday, Coach Rohrs had the following to say: "His kids play well defensively. As long as he's there, they will never be a pushover. They're physical and aggressive. Whenever you're playing his kids, you'd better be ready to play in all three phases of the game because when you play good 'D' you have a great shot to win. We have prepared all week to play a really good football team."
