San Antonio, Tx.- The Eagle Pass Lady Eagles traveled to the Alamo City to tangle with the Southwest Dragons in their second to last match of the 2017 season.

The Dragons jumped out to a quick start 19-25 & 17-25, but Coach Iza Mancha's proud Lady Eagles came screaming back 25-21 & 25-16 behind the fabulous play of Junior Right Side Hitter Sophie Rodriguez and her six blocks, eight kills, 10 digs and 16 serves; Junior Libero Keila Contreras also had a great match with three sets, 31 digs and 12 serves and Junior Outside Hitter Aleanna Torres' six kills, 14 digs and 10 serves.

It came down to the fifth and final game of the match where Rodriguez was absolutely on fire.

"Everybody contributed going into the fifth set," said Coach Mancha. "Sophie Rodriguez, our captain, did an outstanding job trying to motivate the girls to keep on trying."

Junior Defensive Specialist Josie Garcia had 16 digs; Junior Middle Blocker Emily Medina had three sets, two blocks and five kills; Senior Ashley Barrientos had two blocks and seven big kills; Sophomore Right Side Hitter Sophie Gonzalez had nine kills and served 14 times while her classmate and Right Side Hitter Sarah Guevara had three sets, three blocks, two kills and one dig;     Junior Setter Larissa Moyeda lived up to her billing with 17 sets, two kills, six digs and 17 serves; Junior Setter Bianca Camarillo had nine sets, two kills, six digs and 14 serves; Junior Outside Hitter Nataly Martinez contributed eight kills to go along with her 18 digs; and Junior Hitter Vanessa Garcia had two kills in this match.
