IBC Bank and the Eagle Pass Golf Association teed off on Friday, September 29, commencing the inaugural International Border Cup at the Eagle Pass Golf Course.

The tournament was held to benefit U.S. and Mexico cancer organizations, with all proceeds from the entry fees going to support two local groups. In Eagle Pass, the recipient is Candles for Life, an organization devoted to providing financial assistance to individuals with active cancer in Maverick County. In Piedras Negras, the donation will go to Grupo de Apoyo Personas con Cancer (GAC) offers financial and emotional support to those going through cancer treatments.

At the end of the International Border Cup, the presentation of the roving trophy will be made to whichever team – U.S. or Mexico – gets the closest pin, and donation checks will be given to Candles for Life and GAC.

The new Candles for Life Survivor shirts will be unveiled as well, in honor of the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

This tournament has been made possible because of collaborative effort between IBC Bank executives, Candles for Life and GAC representatives, Cancer fighters and survivors,  IBC committee members, Eagle Pass Golf Association and the U.S. and Mexico golfers.
