The C.C. Winn girls’ volleyball program have two goals this year: win district and make the playoffs.

"The mindset for these young ladies is to play tough and win. They have goals and they are looking to accomplish them, " said Head Coach Corina Benavidez. "McCollum will be one of the teams to beat in our district."
Benavidez is entering her ninth season optimistic about 2017.
"We have returning seniors and big hitters coming back,” she said.
Three-year letterman Annette Jimenez will be a leader in the middle for the Lady Mavericks.
"Our offense goes through her and she knows the system," said Benavidez.
Yaya Ortega will also see action on the court.
"Ortega is a two-year letterman veteran setter and she is a leader on offense,” said Benavidez.
Defensively for the Lady Mavericks, Kimberly Rodriguez will guard the net and defensive specialist Kayla Cantu will be key from the back row.
The Lady Mavericks are looking to improve on their fifth place finish a year ago.
