When one attended an Eagle Pass Lady Eagle softball game any time the last two seasons, it was impossible not to notice the five-tool standout the Burnt Orange and White had playing shortstop.  The two-time MVP who comes through time and time again when most needed did not go unnoticed by the University of Texas @ Arlington either.

Mendoza has verbally committed to play NCAA Division 1 softball at the University of Texas at Arlington of the Western Athletic Conference.

The Mavericks will move to the Sun Belt Conference in 2014 which is known to be one of the toughest softball conferences in the nation.

Sandra also plays for  the Texas Bombers Gold squad of New Braunfels one of the best travel teams in Texas.  Sandra has competed nationally in ASA and PGF tournaments and many college showcases while playing for the select team all the while molding her into the player she is today.

As a Freshmen she earned All District Outstanding Team 3B and as a Sophomore she was All District MVP and Texas Writers Association 3rd Team All State shortstop.

Her dedication, discipline, and hard work has paid off with this commitment-athletic scholarship to continue playing 4 more years at the next level after high school. Sandra’s verbal commitment to a NCAA Division 1 program makes her the first in our community to achieve such an honor.
