Eagles close out season with a loss to Del Rio

 The Eagle Pass High School Eagles ended their season in a 24-17 loss to long-time rivals the Del Rio Rams at Cozel Foster-Veterans Memorial Stadium Friday night.

  The Eagle Pass High School celebrated the crowning of their Homecoming Royal Court including Homecoming King and Queen Samantha Vielma and Chance Rodriguez. 

  At halftime the Eagles and Rams were all tied up at 14 a piece but the Rams were able to control the game and started to pull away from the Eagles with a field goal making the score 17-14 with 8 minutes to go in the third quarter.

  Early in the fourth quarter, the Rams once came up with big plays including an interception at the Eagle Pass 23 yard line which turned into points quickly. The Rams capitalized with a 24 yard TD pass putting the Rams up 24-14 after the extra point.

  The Rams were able to edge out the Eagles in a tightly contested 24-17 game that showed the Eagles’ competitive nature as they fought Del Rio to the very end. 

  The Eagles finished up their season in sixth place district wide and an  overall season record of 4-6.

  The Rams will be facing the Palmview Lobos from La Joya, Tx. on Friday November 11. The Lobos come into the contest with a 5-5 record and just finished up a 41-19 win over La Joya.
