Eagles XC boys qualify for state

Eagles Cross Country team recently competed at the Region IV Championship in Corpus Christi, where the Varsity boys were able to advance to the State Championship for the 6th time in seven years, and the 8th time in school history.

The boys placed 4th out of 24 teams fighting to compete at a statewide level.

Overall, New Braunfels Canyon took home 1st; Del Rio took 2nd; San Antonio Brandeis took 3rd; Eagle Pass took 4th; Lake Travis took 5th; Edinburg North took 6th; San Antonio O’Connor took 7th; Harlingen took 8th; San Antonio Johnson took 9th; Smithson Valley took 10th; New Braunfels took 11th; McAllen Memorial took 12th; Brownsville Hanna took 13th; Austin Vandergrift took 14th; San Antonio Reagan took 15th; PSJA High took 16th; La Joya Juarez took 17th; Laredo United took 18th; San Antonio Holmes took 19th; Weslaco took 20th; La Joya took 21st; San Antonio Churchill took 22nd; Edinburg took 23rd; and Kyle Lehman took 24th.

Individually, Sergio Hernandez had a time of 16:31; Miguel Huitron had a time of 16:32; Nathan Kowalski had a time of 16:45; Arturo Valdez had a time of 17:34; Jacob Smith had a time of 18:06; and Homar Perez had a time of 22:42.

Varsity girls placed 11th out of 24 teams and unfortunately did not qualify to move on to the State Championship.

Overall, Austin Vandergift came in 1st; New Braunfuls came in 2nd; Smithson Valley came in 3rd; San Antonio Stevens came in 4th; San Antonio Brandeis came in 5th; Del Rio came in 6th; La Joya Palmview came in 7th; San Antonio Johnson came in 8th; San Antonio Reagan came in 9th; PSJA Memorial came in 10th; Eagle Pass came in 11th; San Antonio Holmes came in 12th; Laredo United South came in 13th; New Braunfels Canyon came in 14th; PSJA North came in 15th; Edinburg came in 16th; Mission came in 17th; San Benito came in 18th; Austin Westlake came in 19th; Leander came in 20th; McAllen Rowe came in 21st; Brownsville Hanna came in 22nd; Weslaco came in 23rd; and San Antonio Churchill came in 24th.

Individually, Monica Rivera had a time of 19:34; Shanya Luna had a time of 20:23; Sarah Monsivais had a time of 20:44; Andrea Garcia had a time of 21:11; Iliana Lopez had a time of 22:41; Ana Cristina Alvarez had a time of 23:10;  andBriana Vasquez had a time of 25:08.
