The John Jay Mustangs amidst a wave of national media coverage converged on Cozel Foster Veterans Memorial Stadium in the wake of a nationally televised appearance by former players Michael Moreno and Victor Rojas on ABC's Good Morning America. The Mustangs decided to take their frustrations out on the Eagle Pass Eagles who would have absolutely none of it by doing a good job of corralling vaunted QB Moses Reynolds in the first half, another key player in the continuing saga of what the University Interscholastic League hopes to put to rest this week. Moses and the Mustangs woke up late and scored 29 unanswered points to come away with a hard-fought 36-14 victory on Friday.

Ep Stalwart RB Mark Venegas had the Eagles only two scores, once on the game's first tally, another big 64 yard breakaway into the endzone to put the Eagles up 7-0 after the Jose Rios PAT. The other came on a four yard plunge into the enzone in the fourth quarter. But Reynolds stole the show finally breaking away from the Eagle defense who had contained him for the better part of the first half as the Division I prospect finally broke away for an 18 yard touchdown in the waning moments of the second quarter. He even took a play out of the Eagle playbook putting the house all-left and finding a winding path through the middle of the Eagle defense for the two-point conversion 8-7 at the half. Reynolds would find pay dirt once again in the third quarter, this time hitting Caleb Coleman-Lee on a 45 yard strike through the air to put the 'Stangs up 15-7. The Jay signal caller found some space with a little over a minute remaining in the third quarter on a 54 yard pass to Michael Urrutia and the David Ortiz PAT was good to put the Mustangs up 29-7. Moses Reynolds would find the endzone again in the fourth on a 32 yard TD run to seal the deal 36-14. The Eagles travel to San Antonio to tangle with the Southwest Dragons on Friday night.
