First up for the Eagles is starting running back Mark Venegas.
First of all Mark, Congrats on that big game against Nixon. Those were some amazing returns. I've got a battery of questions for you, are you ready?
Yes, Sir.
I'll begin by asking who your influences are?
I look up to my brother Joe Venegas who always tells me size doesn’t matter. To play with heart. It’s how bad you want it which will determine how much you will succeed. In the pros, it’s Dez Bryant for how he approaches the game. He’s aggressive.

The Blast because it’s right down the middle and usually I find a cutback and it helps me make it into a long run.

Start working hard since you step on that field. Play every play like it’s you’re last ‘cuz you never know when it can be taken away from you.
What do you feel when you come out of the tunnel?
It’s the best feeling to come out of the tunnel. The crowd cheering and fans going crazy. The atmosphere makes the game even better.

Who are your influences?
My biggest influence would be my brother Roland. It's why I wear #8. I wear this number in his memory because I knoe he is with me on and off the field. My other biggest influence is my Dad because if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be the person I am today. I want to thank him for always supporting me in everything I do and being my biggest fan. Thank you for always pushing me hard to do my best on and off the field.

My sophomore year against Somerset was my career highlight. I really wanted to help my team beat the Bulldogs with playoff implications on the line. We fought them hard, we played with the district champs play for play ‘til the end. I made some key receptions and an interception not knowing my thumb was fractured. We’ll be ready for them this year.
