Ty Chisum re-established himself as a favorite to medal at the 2015 State Track Meet in Austin which will be held May 14th through 16th at the University of Texas at Austin with an amazing personal best of 48 feet two inches eclipsing his best last year of 47' 7 1/2" at last year's state meet.  Chisum outlasted Cibolo Steele's Antoine Wesley-Cox' 47' 3 1/2", Madison's James Liburd's 46' 6 3/4", Judson's Angelo Gordon's 46' 2" and Brandeis' James Olsen's 45' 5 1/2".
Coach Roger Olivas would like to thank Ty's coach Iza Mancha for working with him and pushing him to achieve this goal once again.
"Iza has done an amazing job preparing Ty each week so he can be peaking at the right time," stated Coach Olivas.
CC Winn High School's Carlos Tijerina also won the gold medal at the Region IV AAAAAA Meet this weekend in the discus throw with an amazing 156' 4" which also is a PB after turning in a 154' 11" last week in Alice.
The mile relay team of Eli Guardiola, Chisum, Rich Gonzalez and RJ Valdez also performed admirably against the best this region has to offer with a 3:21.70 fifth place finish.
Iram Gaitan threw a 43' 4 1/4" in the shot put while teammate Christian Madonado tossed a 124' 1" in the discus throw.
Valdez placed 9th in the 400 meter run with a 50.34.  Javier Guevara ran an impressive 1:59.25 in the 800 meter run. In the girls division, Monica Rivera came in the Top 10 in the 800 meter run with a 2:23.82 while teammate Jezabelle Rodriguez also cracked the Top 10 in the grueling 3200 meter run with an 11:51.16.
