When Cristobal Bracamontes, Jr. wakes up early each morning before getting the bus to Perfecto Mancha Elementary, he's got personal goals he strives for daily.  Research has shown that the mind works at a higher, more creative rate when eating, so when he's looking into his bowl of Cheerios, Cris has only one thing on his mind, the fight game.

Scoring points to be exact as Cristobal most recently brought back a silver medal from the Junior Olympics held on April 26th in our sister city of Laredo.

Bracamontes has been boxing for the past three years and now does so out of Loma Bonita Boxing under trainer Roger Garza by way of San Antonio.  He has accomplished many of these goals in the ring with this intensity and a motivational factor that not many would think he would go through in school, bullying.

He uses what he sees on the playground and in the hallways of his school and takes it into the gym with him everyday.

"I want to one day become successful enough to where I can come back to my home town and encourage kids not to bully each other because we go to school to learn and you can't learn if you're worried that someone is mistreating you.  It shouldn't happen at any school, but it does," says the 10 year-old 4th grader with a little frame but a big heart and even bigger dreams.

One of his first victories in the sport of boxing came at the Brown Gloves in Dallas last year and it was here that he and his team realized that he could definitely score points which is the name of the game in amateur boxing.

"As a parent I can say my son has made us so proud and we will continue to strive for the best on making him walk down this path as a champ," said mother Carla, "And champions carry themselves with noble feelings, respect, and honor for this sport, not with arrogance and definitely not as a bully in school."

In the meantime, Cristobal will continue working on his craft and getting the most out of his education both in and out of the ring hoping for bigger and better things as he progresses through this learning process.

His next fight is scheduled for May 23rd in San Antonio at a boxing event at Trader's Village where he will take his next step towards his dream.
