Crystal De La Cruz notched her tenth district victory with the shutout on the eve of her signing of her letter of intent to attend Texas A&M International University next semester.
Mel Mendoza played outstanding at second base with some key stops at the four position while shortstop Heather Ruiz went 3 for 3 at the plate.
Dariela Velasquez launched a scud missile in the bottom of the first inning which left the yard in a hurry and Miriam Salinas had a base-clearing triple.
Nina Flores was 1 for 1 and according to Coach Coca Ruiz, hit safely in all ten district games as the Lady Eagles gear up to begin their state playoff run to get over that proverbial hump and behind the solid pitching of De La Cruz, hope to make it to the hallowed ground of the University of Texas Softball Complex for the AAAAAA State Title Game this season.
What we do know is that we will open up the state playoffs against the McAllen High Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Eagles will attempt to exact some payback for our volleyball team who were eliminated by Mac High earlier this year.
Coach Ruiz will be taking care of the traditional coin flip possibly in Laredo sometime this morning in order to find out the format, place and date of the Bi-District showdown.
