The Eagle Pass Independent School District Board of trustees voted on Tuesday to not approve the recommendation by the Human Resources Department for the position of Eagle Pass ISD Chief of Police.

According to Board President Ignacio Saucedo, the board, "decided to re-advertise and we will be going in a different direction.”  This after the requirements for the position had been lowered in order to what EPISD Superintendent Gilbert Gonzalez said, to "allow for a larger pool of applicants."

The board of trustees voted against the recommendation and will now seek a law enforcement official who presently holds at least a Bachelor's Degree along with the appropriate certification and years of experience to head the police force.

In addition to this item, the Robert E. Lee dance team was recognized before the board along with the Eagle Pass High School Color Guard and Drumline who advanced to State.

DARE officer Ricardo Flores was also recognized by the Robert E Lee Elementary Student Council and Principal Blanca Musquiz received an HEB Excellence in Education Award for her campus as well.
