The Eagle Pass Eagles delivered on a grand stage by winning the Alamo Relays on Saturday.
The Eagles outlasted very strong teams from Madison and Reagan to come away with the victory which establishes the Eagles as a force to be reckoned with come the District 29-AAAAAA Championships.
Mark Venegas placed fifth in the 100 meters with an 11.21 while teammate Rudy Valdez came in 3rd in the 200 meters. Javier Guevara won the 800 meters, one of the hardest races in track and field with an amazing 1:58.94 while Victor Garcia came across the finish line fifth with a 2:00.28.Guevara also won silver in the 1600 meters with an equally impressive 4:36.14 to place second. Arturo Valdez came in 4th and Martin Lopez fifth.
Lopez almost won the 3200 meter run placing second with a 10:02.19 and Gabriel Villasenor came in fifth with a 10:22.56.
Riche Flores ran respectable times in both the 110 highs and 300 intermediate hurdles with a 16.14 and a 41.56 respectively.
The 4X200 meter relay team of Jose Valero, Mark Venegas, DeShawn Franklin and Rich Gonzalez placed fourth with a 1:32.53.
The Eagle 4X400 meter relay team won the gold in this race outpacing their opposition with an amazing 3:26.04 garnering twenty points for the team which would play big in the final point totals.
Iram Gaytan also contributed with his gold medal winning performance in the shot put with a toss of 48'-4 1/2".
