The Mavs and Panthers traded scores in the first quarter, but Medina Valley outscored Winn 8-5 in the second taking a 19-17 lead into the locker room.
The Mavericks returned the favor in the third outscoring their opponent 9-4, then a 13-10 Panther fourth sent the game into overtime where the Mavs scored two buckets to medina Valley's three free throws to come away with a 40-39 victory.
Epi Ruiz had 16 points for the Mavericks, Albert Nandin scored seven and freshman Tony Flores dropped six. Steven Sanchez contributed five points and eight boards.
