Head Coach Pat Hernandez informed The News Gram that Vasquez led all Mav scorers with a 97 hitting 16 of 18 fairways and three greens in regulation.
"Her short game came through to help her recover as her putting stroke was a bit off," said Coach Hernandez who says that Vasquez fights for every shot.
Garcia Zua-Zua shot 104 for the tournament hitting 12 out of 18 fairways and one green in regulation for a birdie on #16 at Casablanca.
"She almost Eagled the hole, but she hit the flagstick," added coach, "She couldn't get on the green on the par 3's and rushed herself on various holes. She shot a 47 on the front 9 and a 49 on the back. Her short game was on task which takes pressure off her putter." Santana Carrazco shot a 108.
"For being her first year,, she has been able to hit 14 of 18 fairways. Her short game needs work, but she never quits."
Jessica Valdez shot a 109 and her coach says she is very strong and very competitive.
Andrea De Alba shot a 112, but Coach Hernandez feels that her shot off the tee box affected her mental game.
"The impressive thing about this tournament is that the girls are paired up with top players from schools like St. Augustine and Alice which makes us better players"
The Lady Mavs will participate in the Del Rio Invitational on February 20 and 21st.
