Head Coach Abel De Los Santos informed The News Gram that the Crimson and Black jumped out to a 1-0 lead before The Silver & Black Attack responded with the equalizer.

Southside scored in the first minute and a half into the game with a center pass from the right side and a spectacular shot on goal.

The Lady Mavericks took advantage of a penalty kick to tie the score late in the first half of play.

"We settled down and played a great defensive game," said de Los Santos, "With 12 minutes left in the first half the refs call a penalty in our favor. We missed the shot but got it back and scored on the rebound to tie it 1-1." 

While the second half went scoreless, both teams had opportunities to score, they just could not finish the plays.

"Southside had more shots than we did but we played great defense with minimal defensive mistakes," added the Winn coach, "Our mid field played a good game in the second half as we controlled the mid. It was a great team effort but we still we need to work on scoring." The Mavs' District record is 0-0-1 with an overall  0-2-1. Their next opponent is Medina Valley who is 1-0 in district play.
